Overview
Welcome to Johnson Upper Elementary School!
Our Johnson staff takes pride in providing a safe, positive and supportive school environment that encourages young adolescent learners to develop the skills necessary to become successful students. Johnson offers a diverse community of teachers and learners, which provide a solid foundation for academic achievement. Currently, we are serving 445 students in grades 5-6, and their families. We believe in having open communication and cooperation between home and school, and we welcome the opportunity to team together to ensure a fun, productive upper elementary experience.
We are an AdvancEd accredited school and are continually working on enhancing our curriculum. Our teaching is in line with the Michigan Curriculum Framework, The Common Core Standards, and designed to include the new Grade Level Content Expectations, as well as, research based implementation of best practices. Students also receive weekly instruction in the areas of art, music, physical education, IT, and library media.
Our PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is an outstanding addition to our school team. Their constant support through their volunteer and fund-raising efforts have a significant impact on our students’ educational environment. They offer many opportunities for parents to get involved in activities with their students both inside and outside of the school day. We are very grateful for the work we do, and hope you will consider joining us in providing extracurricular opportunities for our students.
Thank you, for entrusting Johnson to provide your students with a positive, strong educational experience that will lead to greater academic success in the future. I am so proud to be a Johnson Jayhawk, and I assure you, you will be too!
Be well,
Thomas Traub,
